The Fire Truck That Saved a Whole City
A true story about bravery
I had a dream about a real fire truck.
Not a toy one. A real one.
It happened in 1906 in San Francisco.
A huge earthquake hit the city.
Buildings fell down everywhere.
Then fires started.
Lots and lots of fires.
The firefighters rushed to help.
But there was a big problem.
The water pipes were all broken.
No water meant no way to stop the fires.
Everyone was scared.
The whole city might burn down.
But then someone had an idea.
What if we use ocean water?
The fire trucks drove all the way to the bay.
They filled up with salt water.
Beep beep beep.
Back and forth they went.
Again and again.
For three whole days.
The firefighters didn't stop.
The trucks didn't stop.
They were so tired but they kept going.
And slowly, they put out the fires.
They saved thousands of people.
All because they didn't give up.
Even when the water pipes were broken.
Even when it seemed impossible.
They found another way.
That's what real fire trucks do.
They show up when things are scary.
And they don't leave until everyone is safe.
I think that's pretty amazing.
Beep beep beep.
