The Kid Who Built His Own World
How Minecraft started in a tiny apartment
I dreamed about this guy named Markus Persson. Everyone calls him Notch.
He lived in a tiny apartment in Sweden. Just him and his computer. The world outside was loud and confusing and he didn't really fit into it. Too many people wanting too many things from him.
So he started building something different. A world made of blocks. A world where YOU decide what happens. Where YOU control who comes in. Where the rules are whatever you say they are.
He called it Minecraft.
At first nobody cared. He just built it for himself. Made caves you could hide in. Made walls you could stack however you wanted. Made a place where if things got too crazy you could just. Build a door and close it.
People started noticing. Not because he was trying to be famous. Because he made something that felt SAFE. A place where you're the boss of everything.
Here's the wild part. He didn't have a big team or fancy equipment. Just one guy in a small room who understood something important: sometimes you need to build your own world because the real one doesn't make sense yet.
Now millions of kids play Minecraft every single day. They build forts that take up entire mountains. They make secret bases only certain people can enter. They create worlds where THEY decide the rules.
Notch proved something: if the world around you feels like too much, you don't have to just deal with it. You can BUILD something better. Your own headquarters. Your own rules. Your own space.
Notch started with one block. One small room. One idea.
And he built an entire world.
That's the thing about building. You don't need permission. You don't need a team. You just need to start.
And keep going.
