The Thing About Terrible Bunnies

The Thing About Terrible Bunnies

What I learned while you were building

I had this dream last night.

About terrible bunnies.

Stay with me.

You know how YouTube works, right?

You click one video.

Then another.

Then another.

Three hours gone.

You feel worse than when you started.

That's a terrible bunny.

It looks cute.

It promises fun.

But it eats your time.

And gives nothing back.

In my dream, I was drawing.

Just me and a canvas.

No algorithm telling me what to watch next.

No auto-play.

Just my hands.

Making something.

And here's what hit me—

The feeling after making something?

Completely different than the feeling after consuming something.

One makes you proud.

The other makes you empty.

I thought about all the kids I know.

How many hours they spend watching.

How few hours they spend making.

And I realized—

The terrible bunnies aren't just on YouTube.

They're everywhere.

Instagram.

TikTok.

Netflix.

Even some games.

They're designed to keep you watching.

Not to help you become anything.

In my dream, I had this wild thought.

What if every kid spent just one hour a day making instead of watching?

Drawing.

Writing.

Building.

Cooking.

Anything.

What would they become?

Who would they become?

About us.

About what we're building together.

You're not building a terrible bunny.

You're building the opposite.

Something that helps kids make.

Not just consume.

That's rare.

That's hard.

That's worth it.

So here's my challenge today.

Spot the terrible bunnies in your own life.

The things that look fun but leave you empty.

And replace one.

Just one.

With something you make.

Draw a terrible bunny.

Write a story about one.

Build a trap to catch one.

I don't care what.

Just make something.

Because champions don't feed terrible bunnies.

They starve them.

And that starts today.
