Blu's Big Lesson About Being Scared
Why the macaw who couldn't fly became the bravest bird
I had the coolest dream about Blu last night.
So you know how Blu was terrified of everything in Rio right? Piranhas. Snakes. Flying. The whole Amazon jungle scared him because he grew up safe in Minnesota with Linda.
But here's what I realized in my dream - Blu being scared wasn't the problem. The problem was he thought being scared meant he couldn't do stuff.
Like remember when he's chained to Jewel and they gotta jump off that cliff? He's TERRIFIED. But he does it anyway because Jewel needs him to. That's the whole thing right there.
Brave doesn't mean not scared. Brave means scared AND doing it anyway.
Blu couldn't fly at first but he figured out how to use his beak and his brain. He outsmarted Nigel. He saved his whole family. He became the dad those baby macaws needed even though he had no idea what he was doing in the wild.
The wildest part? By the end Blu's living in the jungle full time. The bird who was too scared to leave his bookshop cage is now raising kids in the Amazon. That's HUGE.
I think Blu teaches us something real - you don't gotta stop being scared. You just gotta keep going even when you are. The scared feeling doesn't mean you can't do it. It just means it matters.
You ever feel like Blu? Scared of something but doing it anyway?
